The Back’s-Part II {family}

Due to the summer heat, focusing on projects, and preparing for homeschooling, I am not doing any sessions until October. But I’ve been itching to do some post processing! LOL. So, I worked on more photos from the Back’s family session. ENJOY more of this precious family!

Announcement: New Design!

Woo-hoo…A new design for my website! I finally found a new theme I like for my photo blog! I was looking for something brighter and more simple in the design and found it. :) The only downside to this particular theme is that the Comments feature is not available. There will be updates to the theme which will hopefully have Comments capability. I really like this theme and am willing to wait for the update. :D With the Comments feature not available, you can comment on my Facebook or feel free to contact me via email.

With the new theme, I decided to combine the main part of my website and my photo blog into one. Since I am no longer doing my photo business, it’s much easier to have it all combined. I am still excited to continue sharing my photo work with all of you during this time off from running my business.

Baby Emma Rose {newborn}

My dear friend, Becky, gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby girl on July 1st! They are also moving to Illinois in the next couple of weeks, so I wanted to keep my promise to her to take some shots of Baby Emma and our children before they left. Emma was only 9 days old during the time of these shots! Isn’t she just darling???! These shots were from a quick, last-minute “session” while my son and I were visiting at their house last Saturday. We tried to pull some various blankets and plants together, whatever she had around that could possibly work — on the fly session, basically! LOL.

I am so excited to have gotten some shots of her to share! B, CONGRATS on such a precious angel and gift from the LORD!

The Back’s {family}

I’m BACK y’all…and this time, I’m back with the Back’s! :D I am so excited to finally share these shots with you!

Introducing the Back Family…. A totally awesome and beautiful family that I know from church and our organic co-op. And boy, these guys were TROOPERS —- they were willing to do a session in the AZ SUMMER heat, bringing a couch from their house and having the session at 7am! Whew! I’m tired just writing about it. Well, we all definitely had our share of Vitamin D that day. lol. It has taken me a little longer to process this session with other projects I’m involved in, but I’m glad to have finally finished most of the shots. I have so many other cute shots, but don’t have the room to share them all here. Sorry! Maybe I’ll post some more in future posts. :D

The B family is a family 7. I LOVE large families! We went to their neighborhood park for the session and had a great time. The kids all did AMAZING, especially considering the increasing heat temps. Back’s, you guys ROCK!

Baby “J” – {newborn}

Last week I had my second newborn session! Precious Baby J was 18 days old and a total CUTIE! Not to mention, he’s the 7th child to our friends, the “Y” family. LOVE IT!

This handsome little guy kept waking up and cried when we put him down and positioned him. LOL. You know…babies are so cute no matter what they do! :D As a newbie to newborn photography, this session did challenge me to go beyond my comfort level! We could not get his feet to tuck under his tush. And there were shots I was not able to get due to Baby J’s increasing impatience (LOL) and being hungry. But that’s okay! I had a BLAST with him and his family. Thank you Y family for giving me the privilege to photograph your new blessing from the LORD.

Our Violinist

Our son had his violin recital last Saturday and was accompanied on the piano by Gabe, our pastor’s 16yo son. This was their first time performing together in public. They played “Concerto No. 2, 3rd Movement” by Friedrich Seitz. They did an AWESOME job! And I’m not just saying that because I’m quite biased. :D LORD willing, this performance may be the beginning of future professional performances and even possible recordings. I’m such a visionary! LOL. Actually, so are these boys (ahem, I mean young men).

My parents were visiting from CA and came for the recital. They did so well, their performance made my mom cry. (awww) More recital photos and performance video will be on my personal blog soon. In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to post these shots of the two maestros. Enjoy!

The “C” Girls {children}

I am finally getting around to posting shots from my most recent photo shoot with the most ADORABLE girls two weeks ago —- precious daughters and niece of close friends of ours from church. Initially this was meant to be just a few ‘quick shots’ of the girls for a Father’s Day present. But I can never just do quick shots, especially when there’s time for me to do more and the subjects are sooo irresistible. It turned into a full session that lasted 2 hours. LOL. I had a blast and the girls did GREAT!

Our Pastor’s Son

This past Sunday, I took a few photos of our pastor’s son for a totally on-the-fly mini-shoot. And I mean “mini” — like 2 poses. LOL. I didn’t have my camera with me. **gasp!** I know…shame on me! So I used Gabe’s Canon XTi — **double gasp!** Canon??? But what could I do – it’s our pastor’s son?? :P LOL.

Now talk about a handsome young man! :) LORD willing, we’ll have an official shoot someday soon. :) He’s 16yo and very much a godly young man with a STRONG vision towards Biblical manhood and work — something not characteristic of many young men (or older men for that matter!) today. On top of that, he is quite gifted in music – classical piano and as a Composer. In addition to heading up the music score for several movie projects, at 15, he composed his first CD. Sweet, Sweet Baby…. {newborn}

Here is another FIRST for me — my first newborn session! Wow, what a fun and precious time I had. I must admit, I was a little nervous to do this session. Aside from my limited knowledge that I learned via other newborn photographers’ websites, I literally had no experience with personally photographing, posing and handling (for pictures) newborns. I was totally trusting in the LORD! :D I am so grateful that our dear friends from church were willing to trust me with taking newborn pictures of their beautiful angel, who was only 11 days old when we had her session.

Baby H did great! With as much moving as we did with her, I was so surprised that she didn’t wake up much. She did wake up towards the end (finally) to be fed and be changed. Mom was able to put her back to sleep, but not for too long. LOL. Yes, I learned a lot from this session and have a lot more to learn with newborn sessions. But one thing I do know…. I absolutely LOVE being a newborn photographer. I look forward to more newborn sessions in the future. :)

And now….Baby H! There were some poses I wish I had taken, but the shots I did get I am so happy with!

My First Large Prints – Float Wraps!

I am sooooooo excited! Remember with my last session of the D Daughters, I could not share the purpose for doing another session?? Well, now I can! LOL. My friend, Tiffany, wanted to surprise her husband with large gallery wrap prints of their daughters for their new formal living room. We first thought of ordering 24″ x 36″ prints in a Gallery Wrap {example} but then opted for the new Float Wraps in 20″ x 30″ {example}.

The prints arrived this afternoon and they turned out sooooo good! This is the first time any of my pictures have been blown up in large print. I was nervous that maybe the color calibration might not be exact on my monitor, especially with a large print where it is more noticeable. But I am praising the LORD that it turned out just as I had hoped and viewed on my computer.

I quickly took some shots of the wraps before my friend came and picked them up. The lighting wasn’t the greatest, but oh well…. You get the idea, especially the size! Tiffany surprised her husband with the prints when she got home. He loved them! They are already hanging on their wall. :D

What is a Float Wrap?
A Float Wrap is a new, unique option to display images. Float Wraps are similar to Gallery Wraps or Standout mounted prints in that they add dimension by extending out from the wall. Float wraps are unique in that they appear to be floating on the wall with the main focus on the image!

Float Wraps are created by wrapping the photographic print or canvas print around masonite to create a thin wrap. The print or canvas is protected with a laminate and padding is added between the print and the masonite to give the front of the Float Wrap a raised, elegant look and feel. The back of the Float Wrap is complete with a black paper backing and a black ¾” thick gatorboard block that allows the Float Wrap to extend out from the wall.
