MEET JOCELYN:

Hello! I’m Jocelyn, owner of Beauty & Light Photography, and this is where I get to share a little bit about who I am. How fun! First of all, I am blessed to be a wife, mother, keeper at home, and homeschooling mom to my precious and handsome family ~ my amazing husband of 11 years and our full-of-joy and often times, goof-ball, 10yr. old son. My family and my relationship with the Lord are the top priorities and passions of my life. I am not perfect at it, but I strive, by His grace, to fulfill the high calling He has placed in my life. Everything about me is centered around glorifying Him in all that I do - including photography.

As A Photographer:

My love for photography beyond the casual point & shoot began just last April 2008 when I got my first “serious” digital camera and then shortly thereafter (3 months to be exact!) when I was able to purchase my first DSLR! My journey is still in its early stages, but I am quickly learning and growing! :)

I am also a web designer. Being married to a computer programmer, it is no wonder that I would also delve into website and graphic design. I’ve had over 5 years experience as a web designer. This experience has proven to be quite valuable for me as a photographer as well. I am a freelance, custom photographer specializing in natural light. I am drawn particularly to portrait and lifestyle photography for families, newborns/babies, children, and seniors (high school and college).

A Vision for Future Generations:

Photography for me goes beyond the images, beyond just the outward appearance. Although the outward appearance can be a lot of fun to capture, it is not the complete package for me. To me, photography is one of the ways we can pass on our vision to future generations and to help leave a lasting legacy. My own photography journey took on a more focused approach when I realized the importance of it in fulfilling our own family’ vision. And so…after much prayer and encouragement from family and friends, Beauty & Light Photography was formed!

The Meaning Behind the Name:

So what is the meaning behind the ”Beauty & Light” name? It is a perfect photographic description of two (of the many!) attributes of God. It is also part of the lyrics to one of my favorite worship songs - Your Holiness Surrounds Me. :) Never heard of this beautiful song? No problem! You can listen to it below.
